2025 Competition Theme:

Nouveau Renaissance:
Art Nouveau Revival

Bringing back the elegance of Art Nouveau with a modern twist. This theme offers a distinctive opportunity for designers to blend the classic elegance of the Art Nouveau movement with contemporary sensibilities. Designers are encouraged to reimagine the fluidity and organic beauty of nature’s curves, floral motifs, and flowing lines, infusing them into contemporary pieces crafted from gold, silver, and gemstones. This theme challenges designers to transcend traditional luxury by emphasizing quality, craftsmanship, and longevity. Art Nouveau designs have timeless appeal and are known for their intricate yet commercially viable forms. The focus on organic lines and nature-inspired elements can be elegantly incorporated into high-end jewellery collections that appeal to a broad portion of the luxury market.

Previous Award Winners

The SJDA carries forward a legacy that spans over a decade, a testament to our enduring passion for excellence in jewellery design. The competition also integrates Singapore’s International Jewellery Stars Award. In 2024 the SJDA was very successful: 93 designers submitted their works from 16 different countries and were evaluated by an international panel of esteemed judges. The winners were chosen based on their creativity, technical excellence, and conceptualization of the Fantasy theme.

The People’s Choice Award generated 2641 Votes from 67 different countries! The winning design received 429 Votes and was announced as the winner of the People’s Choice Awards category.

Judging Panel

For participants in the Singapore Jewellery Design Award, the opportunity to have their creations evaluated by our esteemed judging panel not just an honour but a gateway to invaluable feedback and exposure. Their involvement as a judges ensure that contestants’ work will be seen and appraised by some of the most influential and in-touch members of the global jewellery community. Our judging panel will encourage competition participants to push the boundaries of creativity in their quest for excellence and receive feedback from eminent figures who not only understand the pulse of the market but also possesses the foresight to forecast emerging trends.

Kean Ng is a visionary leader in the jewelry industry, currently serving as the CEO of Aspial Lifestyle Limited. With a career spanning over two decades, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the success of renowned brands like Lee Hwa Jewellery and Goldheart Jewellery. Kean's expertise and innovative approach have earned him a place as a judge at international jewellery competitions, where he brings his keen eye for design and quality. His educational background from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and ESSEC Business School complements his strategic mindset, driving Aspial towards becoming a leading lifestyle powerhouse. His journey from engineering to leading a major lifestyle brand is a testament to his adaptability and visionary leadership, inspiring many in the industry.

Jessie Foo

Founder, Yuli Inc.
Jessie is a renowned jeweller and the founder of Yuli Inc., a fine jewellery brand based in Singapore. She established Yuli in 1995, focusing on the design and retail of exquisite jewellery pieces. Jessie is known for her personalized approach to jewellery, making her a sought-after jeweller for bespoke commissions in Singapore. Jessie combines her technical expertise with a passion for creativity to craft unique and luxurious designs. Her work often involves her family, as she engages her three sons in the business, fostering a family-oriented approach to her craft. Jessie Foo's innovative designs and commitment to quality have solidified her reputation as a leading figure in the fine jewelry industry in Asia

Vinod More

Co-founder, Jewel Box
The Jewel Box is a luxury bespoke jewellery brand based in Singapore. Vinod's career in the gems and jewellery industry began in 1985 hence he brings extensive expertise in gemmology, design, and craftsmanship. Together with his wife, Sangeeta More, he established The Jewel Box in 1994 after years of experience in the diamond and gemstone business in Hong Kong. Their vision was to create a private gallery offering exquisite, handcrafted jewellery and a personalized experience for clients. Vinod is known for his creative approach to jewellery design, blending technical knowledge with artistic inspiration to craft unique pieces. His passion for fine jewellery and commitment to excellence have made The Jewel Box a trusted name for bespoke luxury creations.

SHANYA AMARASURIYA

Creative Director, B P de Silva
Shanya Amarasuriya is a fifth-generation leader at B.P. de Silva Jewellers, one of Singapore's oldest luxury brands with a 150-year legacy. As Creative Director, she has infused the family business with her innovative vision while honouring its storied heritage. Shanya has championed ethical practices, including the launch of collections crafted with Fairmined gold and achieving B Corp certification for the brand in 2022. Her leadership has also seen the unveiling of B.P. de Silva’s first ready-to-wear high jewellery collection and a flagship boutique at Dempsey Hill, blending modern design with the brand’s rich history. Shanya’s approach to jewellery design is deeply personal and poetic, creating bespoke pieces that serve as "time capsules" for cherished memories.
